As a social worker and mental health professional, it is my ethical duty to continue to broaden my skills and knowledge to ensure that I can provide the best care to my clients. Therapeutic trainings are often in high demand, expensive, and take a lot of time to complete. This award will aid me to mitigate a portion of the cost in completing a certificate program in Psychedelics Assisted Therapies at Naropa University. I chose this program as Naropa University prioritizes an education that is anti-oppressive and anti-racist, working to make mental health therapeutic treatments more equitable, especially for those that have been historically mistreated and under served. This program provides vital training and education regarding the current trajectory of incorporating alternative treatments that engage in the whole being of a person, and how they fit within their communities, by broadening the lens on evidenced based treatments for mental health. This certificate program has been incredibly impactful on my ability to make the proper considerations to better serve the needs of a wider and more diverse population.
